(1) ROGER FEDERER - A few contenders here, Srichaphan in good form at the moment and both Lopez and Karlovic can serve the lights out on occasions, but Federer will have too much class.
(7) LLEYTON HEWITT - A blockbuster section of the draw, with a Moya v. Safin 3rd round match a possibility. But while both provide great threats neither of these two man enjoy playing on grass like Lleyton does and their disinterest will prove their downfall.
(14) MARDY FISH - Pretty weak section of the draw here, Coria will probably get done by Moodie in Rd1 or Arthurs in Rd2. Fish will have to work hard to get through, with Clement, and the Swede's Bjorkman and Johansson all posing tough matches. Federer is the only man to have beaten him on grass for a while, which is pretty good thing to be able to claim.
(10) SEBASTIEN GROSJEAN - He will have no trouble moving through this section of the draw. Ferrero has nothing on grass and Gambill should be able to play well, but rarely does.
(11) MARK PHILIPPOUSSIS - Tough tough tough section of the draw with Henman, Philippoussis the perenniel Wimbledon contenders as well as the dangerous Gonzalez and the giant-killer Andreev. Philippoussis loves Wimbledon but his form has been atrocious lately. Henman has become a clay court specialist of late, and lost in Queens last week. I pick Philippoussis to serve 40 aces a match and get to Wimbledon quarters yet again.
MARIO ANCIC - Nalbandian is 10-2 at Wimbledon the last two years and is in good form coming off a SF run at Roland Garros, but I think the young man from Croatia has matured enough to stun Nalbandian in Rd1 and then fight off Haas or Malisse to get through to the quarters.
(12) SJENG SCHALKAN - Schuettler and Schalkan haven't had great preparation on grass in the last couple of weeks and wildcards Todd Reid and Greg Rusedski both know grass courts very well. Greg played pretty well in Nottingham this week, but I can't see him putting everything together over five sets, Schalkan has had some good results on grass and at Wimbledon before and should be too tough.
(2) ANDY RODDICK - Pavel and Dent can both be ultra tough to beat when they are on, but I think qualifier Gasquet will be the biggest threat to Roddick, but even he will be lucky to get a set off the A-Rod.
And so it happens....
Hewitt df. Federer (some remarkable victory like in 2003 Davis Cup)
Grosjean df. Fish (too much experience)
Philippoussis df. Ancic (too much impatience by the young Croat)
Roddick df. Schalkan (serve is unbreakable)
Hewitt df. Grosjean (the frenchman fails in yet another GS SF)
Roddick df. Philippoussis (lack of matches this year tells on Philippoussis)
Roddick df. Hewitt (Queens SF repeat)
Andy goes to the top of the world again and takes over Federer as No.1 although it may be short-lived unless he repeats his remarkable US summer run.
