the grand slam that needs it the least is getting a roof. First ausopen then wimbledon now france. When is the USTA going to get a clue. They perfer oversized corperate boxes, a stadium where a large percentage of the seats suck and putting money into a gigantic purse than to build a roof.

I also noticed that the US Open is the only slam that awards the check along with the trophy. I find that very distasteful and vain. They don't do that for the superbowl or world series.

It might take awhile to hand an individual check to each and every player.

yeah, they'd probably do it if only one guy won. Although I don't recall it happening at the masters in golf.

why not hand them the check. Oh, you mean they are only playing for the trophy? The check goes in the bank before the trophy goes on the mantle.

Because the check ceremony is uneccesary. We all know how much he's getting paid. Do you really think he won't get paid if he doesn't have 20,000 people witness it?[/quote]
