But there are 8 qualifyers, so I guess there should be 16 seeds.

To the best of my knowledge...a 32 draw has 8 seeds. It does look like there will only be two quallie rounds so that takes some pressure off of the guys because then they won't have to play two matches on Saturday like most other tournaments.

According to last year's qualie draw, which is still linked on the ATP site, its a 32 player draw with 16 seeds, 2 rounds, 8 qualifiers.

Hope so.

It's a Masters Series so I guess it can do things a little different. I was going by what "normal" 32 player draws do.

I'm having short-term memory issues at the moment because all I give a flying fig about is where Alex is seeded and who he draws. As it stands now...he should be #12 or #13.

There are 2 seeds in each bracket of the draw, so 8 qualifiers yield 16 seeds.

As I said, I was going by the "norm" and not allowing for the differences between 4 qualifiers and 8 qualifiers

I'm curious whether Verkerk and Martin should get 0 points for Toronto... what is the rule for these cases?

If I am not mistaken, there is no penalty of any sort if you withdraw, if you did not make the initial entry list when it closed. The justification is that players are supposed to make plans ans travel arrangements based on whether they made the original entry list (initial cut). If they make the cut later, it is up to them to decide whether to play or not, without any penalty. So I think it is not a zero-pointer for guys like Verkerk.

OK, Kendrick won at Aptos. So he is out from the qualifying draw at Toronto. Hopefully they knew it before finalizing the list for qualifying draw. In which case, Andy Ram (who lost his doubles today at Indi) hopefully went into the draw.

Bobby Reynolds beat Hippensteel at Aptos. Hippensteel made the lexington list earlier today, and now Reynolds will get a special exempt entry at Lexington, I believe. The cut from earlier today for Lexington challenger was Rajeev Ram, with Widonm and Mankad following. I suppose Widom makes the draw with one cleared SE spot, Reynolds takes on SE spot, and Mankad goes to qualies. Will have to wait and see.

I think Aisam Qureshi who won the QF at Valladolid should be getting a SE entry at the Segovia challengher where he was 7 out from the cut..

I don't know who else have SE entries next week.

The qualies draw is out. Andy Ram is in, and the last entry was Nenad Zimonjic in the end. Ram plays 9th seed Hernych tomorrow if he can get there. he has been given a late start, last match at 3 pm. So, all is well for Andy. Bogomolov is 11th seed. Here its is:

(1) LLODRA, Michael FRA vs DE VOEST, Rik RSA
(wc) CVETKOVIC, Dejan CAN vs (16) JEANPIERRE, Julien FRA
(2) BECK, Karol SVK vs NORMAN, Dick BEL
CHIUDINELLI, Marco SUI vs (12) WEINER, Glenn USA
(3) SAULNIER, Cyril FRA vs (wc) SADOVICH, Sanjin CAN
ZIMONJIC, Nenad SCG vs (11) BOGOMOLOV JR., Alex USA
(4) BENNETEAU, Julien FRA vs (wc) PIOTROWSKI, Andrew CAN
KNOWLE, Julian AUT vs (14) LEVY, Harel ISR
(5) LEE, Hyung-Taik KOR vs WANG, Yeu-Tzuoo TPE
OKUN, Noam ISR vs (15) SALZENSTEIN, Jeff USA
(6) LU, Yen-Hsun TPE vs KRATOCHVIL, Michel SUI
DE CHAUNAC, Sebastien FRA vs (10) LAPENTTI, Nicolas ECU
(7) JOHANSSON, Thomas SWE vs ETLIS, Gaston ARG
RAM, Andy ISR vs (9) HERNYCH, Jan CZE
(8 ) ASCIONE, Thierry FRA vs PARMAR, Arvind GBR
(wc) GUBENCO, Philip CAN vs (13) REID, Todd AUS

So, everybody is happy. Except Harsh Mankad, who ended up being screwed up with rajeev Ram deciding to go to Lexington and Reynolds winning in Aptos and taking a special exempt. Mankad ended up as top seed at the Lexington qualies with a tough draw too..

Thanks Jay. I'm pretty happy too. Kendrick is on a bit of a roll in Aptos and I'll take matches won in a Challenger over matches lost in a Masters qualie at this point.

Fiona: Do you know what happened to Mamiit today? He retired at 4-6 5-6 against Dancevic at Aptos. That is an odd time to retire unless something serious happened (the draw says right ankle!) ..

Sorry Jay, I have no idea. To be honest, I hadn't even noticed that side of the draw since I was just looking for Robert's results.

Arthurs must have withdrawn before the draw was made... his match was not finished at that time...

Mankad actually came out OK in the end after deciding not to go to Toronto and missing the Lexington challenger main draw as well. He made the Lecington main draw draw before qualifying play started today with somebody withdrawing (I suspect Mamiit, who had an ankle problem at Aptos last evening) .. Now everybody, except Mamiit, is happy! :)

Have there been any withdrawls from the current Main Draw players.?

Im hoping for a (LL) in the Qualies to get into the Main Draw.

Not as far as I know, but withdrawals can occur until the 1st round is completed...
