week *44* : ATP Paris + Q (1-7/11)

so, the current tournament schedules for tomorrow are out, what i can say:

Mirny is probably out of Paris, as he is scheduled to play a doubles game on Saturday...
in Petersburg,
Saulnier/Beck, Karlovic (assuming he will loose in doubles in the current game),Labadze are in action tomorrow, and if they loose, they could come to Paris only on Saturday morning.

In Stockholm,
Gambill, Rochus,T.Johanson,Arthurs are in action and can make it only on Saturday morning.

So my question is, can these players come on Saturday morning and play in the qualies, or we can assume they are out (i hope not) ??

Last I heard from JMG, he had no plans to go to Paris. I really don't think that's changed for him because he hates to play on carpet.

Thanks Jay :)

Looks like they are expecting a few more to pull out, if Nadal has pulled out of quallies, and is waiting for an sport as third alternate.

Deadline is midday, Eastern time, isn't it?

Mirnyi pulled out of his doubles match in order to play the qualifying rounds at Paris. A shame since he had a good chance in winning the doubles match in Sweden.

ATP site says R64 is worth 3 race points. Is this a mistake?

can someone explain why they did it like this? normally when the draws are made they take a LL to fill the draw, no?

qualifying rounds have not been completed

Postby Guest » Sat Oct 30, 2004 6:47 am

the qualifying rounds have not been completed. Only if that's the case & if a player drops out of the main draw would he be replaced by a lucky loser.
Happy Halloween from Switzerland everyone!

Actually once the qualifying round play STARTS, all subsequent main draw withdrawals turn into LL spots.

Initially seeded 4th, Carlos Moya was forced to pull out of the BNP Paribas Masters, due to a shoulder surgery.

Moya's withdrawal allows Tommy Haas to become the 18th seed, and Xavier Malisse, who lost in the final round of the qualifying draw, to gain a spot in the main draw. As for Michaël Llodra originally due to meet Haas in the first round, he will now face either a qualifyer or a lucky-loser.

further pullouts

Postby rhubarb » Mon Nov 01, 2004 5:03 am

Two more very significant withdrawls: Nalbandian (various injuries reported, not sure what is true), Agassi (hip).

This means that Coria, Safin and Henman qualify for Houston, and the race is over.

What a shame; this week looked so interesting. The indoor season this year has been a big disappointment.

I think Moya pulled out because after the draw was made, he realised he didn't need to play in order to make Houston.
