:D That's what is even more amazing to me.....there are numerous websites displaying pic's of American players, however the USTA and ATP dont take the time or effort to "right click/Properties/Copy" one of these pic's and use it in their Player Bio's.

I've even mailed the USTA a pic and asked them to use it,but I got no response from them, not even a return mail. :KooKoo:

Oh well,at least I know what every square inch of Roddick's and Agassi's faces look like. ;)

Mail me a pic of Alex and I'll mail you a pic of Glenn. 8) :D

No need for the pic of Glenn. I've seen him play enough times over the past year that I know what he looks like :) .

I'll send you a pic ASAP. Seriously though, there's a photos page on Alex's website and one of the pics is his latest media guide photo taken in May. This website isn't done by some entity...it's done by a family member of his and she updates it as often as she can.

Not to worry,I copied a bunch of pic's of Alex from the site. :) ...he looks like a tough dude. 8)......now I know why he's beaten Glenn 6/2 6/3 on both occasions they've played eachother. :x

"If"??? Glenn get's through the first two rounds of Qualies.it looks like he'll have to beat Paul Goldstein or Nicolas Lapentti in the final round.
That's a tough ask,as tough as winning a Challenger. .......good luck Glenn,he's gonna need it. :)

OK, so as of 11 am this morning, the US Open entry list became irrelevant.

Last one OUT: Schalken
Last one IN: Elsner

Muller, Gimelstob, etc are in the qualies. From now on, any withdrawl from the main draw list will turn into extra spots for lucky losers (highest ranked losers of the final round of qualies). I suspect there will be at least a couple of such spots.

Jay

Is final round qualies 5 sets.......I think it is. :KooKoo:

Any more news on withdrawl's from the Main Draw.
Things are looking interesting in the Qualies.
Seeds No 1/2/7/11/14/10/12 are out......so lucky loser spots are going to be great fun.
Even the No 15 seed has a good LL chance.....he might need it. ;) ......hopefully not. :)

According to the US Open website, Blake withdrew today because of illness. A shame for Muller, he had a great run at Washington and was the next one in on the main draw. It looks like he lost a tight one in the 1st round of qualies, so thats ashame.

Is there anyway that Janko Tipsarevic might get one of the LL spots??

there certainly is a chance that Tipsarevic could get a LL-spot.
So far, 8 matches have finished from the third qualifying round.
The 8 losers so far are :

9-Tipsarevic
15-Weiner
32-Wessels
Varlet
Berrer
Gicquel
Serra
Guccione

So if seeds 1-8 do not lose in qualifying round 3, Tipsarevic will get the first lucky-loser-spot.

Thank you :) . It was only after I asked the question that I went and looked at the draw. I saw that, so far, Janko is the highest seed to lose today and it looks to be a good chance to stay that way.

And Marcos Baghdatis squeaked through his quallie (into his his first US OPEN as a pro...got into the Finals as a Junior last year) so there's a good chance both guys i wanted to see get through the most, made it :D

Well, as long as he wins that still gives Janko first priority as a LL. So Kristof better win ;)

Vliegan is not looking good,he's lost the first set.

I need three Withdrawls from the Main Draw so that Glenn Weiner get's a LL.

Blake is out so Vliegan or Tisparavic will get that one.
There has to be 2 more Main Draw withdrawls......what you guys think,is there any chance of 2 more.?

Vliegen just lost.....dammit.

So I desperately need two more withdrawls for Glenn to get the 3rd LL spot,I guess I'll have to go to Synogogue tomorrow morning and do some praying.

Jay bring me some good news, please.

Sorry, but I don't know Glenn's game all that well. It's pretty decent from what I've seen and I've heard he's a nice guy.

But just because someone is from my "hometown" doesn't mean that I'll root for them. Sorry :|

So you're a female,that figures. ;)

So you'd root for a Yugoslavian player before an American player from Los Angeles. :KooKoo:

That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.......are you American.?....or are you just blonde.?

You're on my ignore list from now on. :x

UM....if I consider him/her to be the better one on the court...yes. Sorry but I don't root for someone based on their nationality or because their from my city  . Crazy as it sounds I root for who I think plays the better game  . No matter where they may come from!!

Anonymous wrote:You're on my ignore list from now on. :x

Mature response. I guess my life will never be the same...lol. My question to you should be: would you root for someone who might obviously suck just because you come from the same city/country? But you have me on ignore so I guess I'll never hear the answer. I'm so sad about that.

Seems like a Qualifier must have withdrawn. :?

So one more withdrawal is all that's needed for Glenn to get into the Main Draw.

I thought that and checked. Every qualifier that got in was in the MD. I just read that Escude WD so he could be one of them. There's a possibility of Costa WD so Glenn still has a chance. Don't give up hope ;)

No wonder all of your post are unsigned. Ever hear the phrase 'Better to stay silent and be thought a fool then to speak up and remove all doubt'? Guess not.

Of course she's an American, because here in this country we are free to cheer on whatever players we choose, for whatever reasons we choose. And Glenn isn't really 'from' LA anyway, not with that accent.

Yes, it was Escude who withdrew. I went over the draw line by line last night and compared it to the one posted on Steve's site, which hadn't been updated. CD, Tennis-x.com posted today that Costa's knee is hurting and he pulled from his doubles match in Long Island to give it some rest. Now, I'm going back to disregarding unsigned posts, especially the rude, ignorant ones...

I see Dimitri Tursonov pulled out of Long Island with a back injury.
http://www.reuters.co.uk/newsArticle.jh ... ction=news

Does anyone have any more news on whether Costa and Tursonov have withdrawn from the Open.?

Is there some kind of a deadline that a player has to withdraw from the Open,or can he withdraw on the day the Tourney starts.?

Thanks

The Aussie Open had 3 Lucky Losers.
The French Open had 4 Lucky Losers.
Wimbledon had 5 Lucky Losers.
It looks like the US Open is only going to have 2 Lucky Losers.

Hi!
I have a question. I run an official website of Matkowski and Fyrstenberg and they are playing Scoville Jenkins and Kuznetsov in the first round. I have to write something about them on the site, but I lack information. I was wondering maybe you could help me. Also, is that true that Jenkins plays double-handed forhand?? And what about backhand?

Thank you in advance

Jenkins has a one handed forehand and two handed backhand and plays Roddick tonight in the singles. Jenkins is the #6 junior in the world, Kuznetsov is the #4 and the French Open juniors runner up. Should be a good match. Are either one of those Polish guys in the singles?

Tursunov is a sure a tough guy.
He wins a match in five sets whilst carrying a back injury,I'd like to see what he can do when he's really fit. ;)

I think Alex will beat Koubek easily,no problem.

I think Younes El Aynaoui and Irakli Labadze took the USTA for a ride.
I'm not convinced they wern't carrying injuries BEFORE they arrived in New York.........they took the 1st round money and ran. :S .....not a nice thing to do.

I wonder when the USTA will tell Glenn Weiner he can go home.

Bad luck Alex.....very close.

How does a player who "retires" in the singles manage to play in the Doubles.???
Im talking about Irakli Labadze ....he retires from the singles but remains in the Doubles......am I missing something.?

Why not just write the guy out his Prize Money Cheque before the Tournament starts, and send him on Holiday.

Because you have less work to do in Doubles since your partner is covering half the court. Younes didn't take anyone for a ride, he sincerely wanted to play. If you want to direct your anger at someone, try Ljubicic. He broke a rib last Thursday and didn't tell anyone, took an injection and tried to play with it. That was foolish.

Hi Fiona,how you doing.?

I'm just having some fun.....dont take me too seriously. :D

The thing with me is I dont like keeping quite,I think people are to scared to say what's on their minds in the Pro Tennis World, and that's why things just remain the same, nothing changes.

Irakli Labadze retires after 3 games of the singles, and then takes his place on the Doubles court....unbelievable is all I can say.
To me that's a con job. :S

Thanks for pointing out the Ljubicic story........you call that foolish,I call it fraud.
In boxing that kind of move would get you suspended, maybe even lose your license to fight again.

Im sure the USTA will find something for Glenn to do.
There were no ball boy injuries so he cant do ball boy duties.
Security is all taken care of,so he cant be a security guard.
However they found Glenn a Mixed Doubles partner.......hooraaaah,hooraaaaaah,Glenn's in the Mixed Doubles.
He's partnering Vania King against Scott Humphries and Chanda Rubin....now that's funny.

Thanks a lot for the info. Well, I guess they have wrong information on the ITF site (I mean the double-handed forhand thing). Fyrstenberg and Matkowski suck at singles :P They play quallies from time to time but they really suck. It's hard for me to admit, but I've got to be honest :P They are doing great in doubles, though, so I'm proud of them, 'cos in Poland becoming a good player is as hard as preventing the second world war :/ Unfortunately, they are not in their best shape lately, especially mentally :( Hopefully they'll do their best in NY.
