I really like Todd Martin, always have......but perhaps he should give his Wild Card to an up and coming American youngster.

BelgiumDude: I don't think Haas is in the main draw list. Only 51 spots like last week. One Special Exempt spot to be decided.

Cincy Post reports this morning that Haas and Enqvist were given the two remaining wildcards. Now, where is that Kendrick nut? Thought for sure he'd play qualies here....

I don't know whay they are giving a WC to Enqvist. He is 5th out from the main draw and will quite probably make the draw anyway, as there are a few usual suspects who will probably be withdrawing. Perhaps they want to keep away other wildcard requests with that excuse, knowing that Enqvist will possibly make the draw by Friday and then they can give it to somebody they really want to give it to ... :) :)

So Alex got screwed out of a Cinci WC again. He asked for one last year and didn't get it.

I'm just speculating that he may have asked for one this time. To be honest, I'm probably better off not knowing because if he did and didn't get it again then I'll just explode :X<:

Main Draw:
One SE spot to be cleared
OUT: Philippoussis (and Volandri from ALT)
IN: Santoro
NEXT: Sanchez, Costa, Verkerk

Qualies:
OUT: Ancic, Falla, Santoro
IN: Goldstein, Jeanpierre, Parmar
NEXT: Okun, Kim, Norman, Kratochvil

Actually, Enqvist from the qualifying list is also into the main draw as a wildcard (as per the official site which does not show Enqvist in their qualies list). So, Okun is already in the qualies list.

One wildcard to the qualies has gone to Jeremy Wurtzman of Ohio State, who is a top-3 NCAA player. No announcement so far on the other three wildcards to the qualies.

By the way, interesting to see Scott Draper's name in the qualies ALT list. Anybody knows if he is planning to play this weekend if he can make it in? Since the injury last October at the Tirburon challenger, he has not played at all. Kinda late to start yet another comeback at age 30, right?

Thanks Jay, he told me right after I posted that. Again, I agree with his decision to win matches at a Challenger and get back on track then risk losing in the qualies. I think he's having more fun this way too.

Thanks for the updates as well. Can they really change the WC after they have announced it?

I think they can change the wildcard. If Enqvist would make the main draw anyway, they could simply withdraw the wildcard friday afternoon and give it to somebody else. That is my understanding. Routinely done in the ITF circuit and challengers but I have not noticed much of that at the ATP tour level. Last week, for instance, 2 or 3 of the Canadian wildcards to the qualies would have made it into the qualies without wildcards, but TennisCanada did not change anything (nice of them! .. they didn't try to squeeze a couple more Canadians into the qualies, and allowed Andy Ram etc go into the list). Those three Canadian names were cut from ATP's official ALT list by thursday last week.

I don't think ATP has cut out Enqvist's name from the main draw ALT list or the qualies list yet (same with the other three wildcard names). I guess it depends on whether they have told ATP or not. They can wait till the last minute on Friday for that, from I what I know. Again, I am not an expert ..

By the way, I don't want to accuse the Cinci folks of anything. Just talking the possibilities for fun, that's all. They may have no such "ulterior motives" to play a game with the wildcard to Enqvist!

Cinci Main Draw: No change. One SE spot still to be released.

Qualies:
OUT: Morrison (got wildcard in main draw), Enqvist, H-T.Lee
IN: Okun, Kim, Norman
NEXT: Kratochvil, Draper, Seppi

So ATP has now cut out Enqvist due to the main draw wildcard given to him from the tournament.

Main Draw:

SE spot still to be cleared.
OUT: Blake (and from ALT list - Costa, Verkerk, A.Martin)
IN: Sanchez
NEXT: Enqvist, Escude, Davydenko, Nieminen, Karlovic

By the way, Enqvist is not crossed out from the main draw ALT list (he was only cut from the qualies list). So I suppose if the SE spot clears, he is in directly without using the wildcard, as we all fully expected.

Qualies:

OUT: A.Martin, Verkerk
IN: Kratochvil, Draper
NEXT: Seppi, Knowle, Russell, Cermak, Etlis, Zovko, Mankad, Vagnozzi, deArmas

Players who may leave the Q list or Q ALT list:

Hernych (in the Q list) plays Roddick in the QF today at Canada
Stepanek (in the Q list) is next in for Trani challenger (one SE spot to clear)
Seppi is playing a 9.30 pm QF match today at the San Marino CH
Mankad is in the singles QF at 7 pm today and in the doubles SF on Saturday at the Lexington CH.
Zovko is 3rd out from main draw (next in if the SE spots clear) at the Denver CH.

Main Draw:

One SE spot to be cleared.
OUT: Calleri (and fron ALT list - Escude, Davydenko)
IN: Enqvist (so I assume the WC is free now)
NEXT: J.Nieminen, Karlovic, Ancic, Andreev, Berdych

Qualies:

OUT: Escude, T.Johansson, N.Lapentti
IN: Cermak, Etlis, Mankad
NEXT: Vagnozzi, DeArmas, W.Black, Zimonjic, Reynolds

I assume there may not be a whole lot more of updates officially from now on. The cut may fall a bit more I guess by the time the Qualies draw is made tonight.

According to the Cincy website, Martin withdrew and the WC given to him went to Jeff Morrison. No idea what happens to Enqvist's WC now that he has a direct entry.

Qualifying Wildcards: Jeremy Wurtzman, Donald Young, Alex Kuznetsov, Brendan Evans.

Is Escudé out from the whole tournament or just out from the qualies list (meaning he made it to the main draw)? :?

Thanks.

Does T.Johansson withdrawal from the qualies list means he's no longer eligible for SE?
If so, that leaves only Hernych, who plays against Roddick at 7PM... will they wait at Cincy until the match ends?

Why he got a Wild Card I'll never know....there are many American players with just as much potential as him.
In fact he's had too many wild cards already in his career that he could'nt take advantage of.

The system is rigged, the sponsors call the shots.

What the f**k is going on at the Cicinnati Qualies.

I was watching the Live Scoreboard, the match between Glenn Weiner and Dick Norman.
The score was 5/4 to Norman final set,and then there seemed to be a break in Live Scoring.
Next thing the scoreboard say's WINNER WEINER.
It shows under the RESULTS AS WINNER WEINER.

This morning I look at the Schedule of Play for today, and Carrazz is playing Dick Norman.

What's up with that.?

In fact go look at the Cincinnati "Live Scoreboard" right now.

Check out the results, and click on the G,Weiner VS D.Norman result and it still shows G.Weiner as the WINNER.

How did a match that was 4/5 at one stage turn into 3/6. :?

correct, i thought Norman withdrew at that point :( but later i saw him in the OOP for sunday, an offical document released by ATP so i had good hopes then ;)

the correct score according to ATP is :

Q1 NORMAN (BEL) def (10) WEINER (USA) 26 76(3) 63

on the official site no score is listed for this match, only in the live section it says WEINER won 62 (3)67 45 :?

appapparently something went wrong with the live scoring, i thought i was the only one that noticed it ;)

GO DICK! :HeadBang:

Whoever you are...you must have Bogie confused with someone else. He rarely gets WCs into tournaments. If you're referring to his WCs given at the US OPEN he was given those with good reason.
