Greg Rusedski

Postby Rob & Stephen » Sat Dec 10, 2005 8:42 am

Its been reported in the British press that Greg Rusedski will miss the Australian Open to be back in the UK with his wife, Lucy, due to the upcoming birth of their first child. :Gratz: He will play however in Doha, and then return home. He will return to the circuit sometime in later February, possibly at Rotterdam.
We absolutely love BEAR HUGS!!!!

The USTA and Tennis Australia have an agreement to give one wild card to each other at their Grand Slams. I like this concept. ...

Rusedski won't play and Saretta has opted to stay in South America and play those events instead of playing the Aus Open.

And I still wonder where Joachim Johansson is in this list?
I don't think he has officially withdrawn yet.

I thought Lisnard and Gimelstob were already in?

And I still wonder where Joachim Johansson is in this list?

It is possible that ATP had made some corrections on the list that was first released, which kinetix posted. I can't remember if I cross-checked the list carefully at first..

In any event, I edited the list above, and it now matches what ATP officially shows.

Puerta is in the official initial entry list (and now OUT). Also in the initial list are J.Johansson and Martin Verkerk who were not in our list at first. I added those three above. One name that was on our list as an injury protected player, was Alex Popp. It turns out that Alex is now in the official list only as the 132nd ALT with #235 ranking (and he is already OUT from ALT too) ... So, those changes have all been made above.

also:

Carsten Ball has recieved a wildcard into qualifying for the 2006 Aussie Open.
He won our national 18's tournament this week beating Brydan Klein in the final.
Good Luck in 2006 to all the aussies!, especially:
Mark Philippoussis, Peter Luczak, Marc Kimmich, Rob Smeets, Raphael Durek, Brydan Klein & Matt Ebden and also Marat Safin, Dominik Hrbaty, Olivier Rochus & Paradorn Srichaphan!

Strange that the Australian Qualies list has still not been released by ATP... No news yet.

Robin Söderling is out with a knee problem and won't come back til Zagreb.

Verkerk and J.Johansson won't be playing here either.

Finally, the qualifying list comes out, about three days late! .. I have added that at the top.

There may have been some mistake in the entry deadline at the ATP's entry site - it seems they had shown 26th as the entry deadline by mistake for a while, though they corrected it in the end just before the 19th and had put in a reminder to the players. I wonder if some players still missed out on entering. In general, the cut seems to be at least 10-15 spots lower than you would expect in a Grand Slam qualies week with no challengers. My guess is that ATP probably waited a couple of extra days to see if anybody contacts them, before releasing the list .. Anyway, it is above.

You sure? he got a WC into qualifying for Auckland - why would he make the trip down there if he wasn't gonna play AO

It´s the usual "never trust a guest", people just spreading rumours without any base in it. Been a lot of those during the years. It´s like Jay said: If you say something than say the source as well, in this case Paddy: Where have you read that Verkerk is not playing AO?

I'm sure he won't play. He said he wasn't ready to play a best of five.

It says he is not going to play at AO but is recovering is going ok. He thinks a rentree in february is a more realistic goal and he doesn't think he is able to play a best of five.

But......I found the other news about the wildcard and it came out yesterday way after the news that he wasn't going to play AO, so he might be playing though....

I went and checked.. Yeah, he is in both lists .. I guess we should expect some corrections later in the list(s).
