"Zero Pointers" / "Missed Opportunities" This will be the Zero-Pointers list for 2009. Beginning in 2000, the rankings automatically count all grand slam and masters series events. If a player's ranking is high enough for him to make the acceptance list or if he plays in the main draw by direct acceptance, or as a qualifier, lucky loser, wild card, or special exempt, the event will automatically count towards his ranking total. For those players who are ranked high enough to enter a mandatory event but do not participate, no matter what the reason, those players get a "0" for that tournament. A player's withdrawal from an ATP World Tour 500 event whether on time or of after the 12 noon deadline, shall result in a zero (0) point included as one of his best of four (4) results. Further non-consecutive withdrawals shall result in a zero (0) point allocation replacing the next best positive result for each additional withdrawal . Players with multiple consecutive withdrawals who are out of competition for 30 days or longer due to injury will not be subject to a ranking penalty as long as verified and approved medical forms are provided; or, a player shall not have the ranking penalty imposed if he completes the Promotional Activities requirement as specified under "Repeal of Withdrawal Fines and/or Penalties" or if the on-site withdrawal procedures apply. Here is a list for each tournament of players who officially received a 0 for their point total.
