Arguably one of the professional tennis world’s most eligible bachelors, despite being in a long-term relationship with his girlfriend Kim Sears for some years now, it seems that Andy Murray wants to stay that way for at least a little while longer! In the latest instalment of the Andy Murray girlfriend saga, the Scottish tennis ace has given false hope to his adoring fans across the world by claiming that he is in no rush to marry her yet, no matter how much pressure she puts on him to pop the big question.
Although not the most important piece of Andy Murray news to break so far this season, at least not to us anyway, we’re sure that there are plenty of eager Murray-heads out there who are secretly pleased that the long-suffering Kim Sears remains without a sparkler on her finger. Although the tennis ace and his girlfriend share a home in Surrey, and have been involved with each other for around 7 years, Murray recently admitted in a televised interview with Sir David Frost that he still hasn’t nor is he considering proposing to her regardless of how many hints she drops. In a scenario that is probably familiar to many people in co-habiting relationships, it seems that Murray is happy with the way things are between then and is in no rush to change them.
Reticent about the reasons behind his reluctance to transform Kim from the Andy Murray girlfriend to Mrs Murray herself, he at least had some nice things to say about her, particularly her ability to understand the nomad-lifestyle that professional tennis players tend to lead for the vast majority of the tennis season. Sears is also no stranger to the tennis world, her father is a leading professional tennis coach, and her overall support and understanding has led Murray to state that “she has been good to me…she understands the game”. Whether she’ll continue to show this level-headed sense of understanding remains to be seen after her partner admitted on national television that he was in no rush to whisk her down the aisle!
This is not the first time that the Grand Slam winner has hit hot water with the long-suffering Sears, although at least this time it wasn’t at the hands of Rafa Nadal. Earlier last month the Spaniard bombarded the unlucky Scotch tennis pro with a series of racy text messages claiming to be the other woman. Although the prank did no long-term harm to the relationship, it’s been a bit of a season filled with off-court drama so let’s hope that Murray doesn’t let it interfere with his game.
