Barcelona

Barcelona look the clear favourites to win Club football’s biggest game of the season at the Olympiastadion in Berlin due to a phenomenal winning streak and that man, Leo Messi who scored an absolutely wonderful solo goal against Bilbao in the Copa del Rey final. Check out the Barcelona v Juventus Head to Head matches.

For that reason, Juventus definitely have what it takes to cause an upset on Saturday at 19:45, the midfield general that is Andrea Pirlo is no stranger when it comes to winning in Berlin. He was part of Italy’s victorious side which won the 2006 World Cup, the final was also held at the Olympiastadion. Paul Pogba, linked with a move to Barcelona, has been in top form this season, once again underlining his true world class status could cause the Catalans trouble. Alvaro Morata won the semi-final for the Old Lady with goals home and away against former club Real Madrid but he will have to be in top form on Saturday, not to be able to score goals, as the Barca defence has looked shaky at times, but to score more times than his 120 goal counterparts Messi, Suárez and Neymar.

That trio has been too hot to handle for the likes of Manchester City, PSG and Bayern Munich-will Georgio Chiellini and co be able to stop the South Americans? The stats say not: The Catalans have beaten Manchester City 3-1, PSG 5-1 and Bayern Munich 5-3 in progressing to the final and have only lost in Europe twice all season. Juventus, meanwhile, have looked far more weak in losing against Atlético de Madrid and Olympiakos in the group-stages and Massimiliano Allegri’s side only just scraped past Monaco with a 1-0 win on aggregate in the quarter-finals. Their semi-final against Real Madrid was more convincing yet the reigning Champions, Madrid, had the lionshare of shots, possession and territory.

Barca have won 50% of their UEFA competition matches against Italian opposition whereas Juventus have only won 34% of their matches against Spanish sides (in the same number of matches (44)). To worry the fans of Juventus even more, out of 7 European Cup final appearances, they have won only twice compared to Barcelona’s impressive 4.

I and the rest of the footballing world are very much looking forward to this massive game. I admire both teams hugely, Juventus for their determination and character shown in every game and Barcelona for their world renowned tiki-taka, entertaining style. This game is so tight to call but I am going to go with the favourites due to their ability to score goals out of nothing.

Match Prediction:
Juventus 1-2 Barcelona
