After withdrawing from the Paris Bercy and ATP World Tour Finals several weeks ago, world No. 3 Rafael Nadal underwent successful surgery on his appendix on Monday, according to a press release issued by his management team.
Details reveal that the Spaniard went under the knife for laparoscopic surgery without any post-op issues in the Teknon medical center in Barcelona. The operation was performed by Dr. Segura Movellán and overseen by Dr. Angel Ruiz-Cotorro of the Spanish Tennis Federation. He will remain under hospital care for the next 24-48 hours.

Nadal was diagnosed with appendicitis during the Shanghai Rolex Masters in September and did not end his 2014 season until a quarter-final loss to 17-year-old Borna Coric in Basel.
It is unknown when the 14-time Grand Slam champion will begin pre-season training for the upcoming year.
