Defending US Open champion Serena Williams was the latest tennis star to grace The Late Show with David Letterman on Thursday on the eve of her sixth overall title defence at Flushing Meadows.
The 17-time Grand Slam champion discussed a variety of topics with Letterman, including her experience with tennis fans in New York City, playing doubles with her sister Venus and how motivated she is ahead of the season’s final Grand Slam tournament.

Williams’s is the top seed in the 2014 US Open, and will begin her campaign against an American youngster in Taylor Townsend. The second seed at the tournament is Simona Halep, who happens to be over 10 years younger than Williams. Williams is yet to win her first Grand Slam title this season, having fallen short at all three previous tournaments this season. She has had a great US Open Series, as she won titles in Stanford and Cincinnati as well as reaching the semi-finals in Montreal.
