During the first set of the Maria Sharapova vs. Maria Kirilenko match-up, Baldwin, who was in the front row behind Sharapova, managed to catch a Kirilenko shank to the delight of the crowd in attendance.

Sharapova, seeded 5th at this year’s US Open, began her match in shaky fashion, but recovered late in the opening set to reel off 10 consecutive games to snatch the victory 6-4, 6-0. The Russian sensation hit 5 aces, 15 winners and won 76% of her first service points to secure the win in exactly 90 minutes.
