There are very few “perfect moments” in one’s life; for Novak Djokovic, his wedding to longtime partner Jelena Ristic was exactly that.
The world No. 1 culminated his extraordinary weekend at the Wimbledon Championships with a weeding, as it was later revealed that the Serb’s wedding was at a resort on the island of Sveti Stefan in Montenegro. It was a private ceremony that featured Serbian tennis friends Janko Tipsarevic, Viktor Troicki, and Nenad Zimonjic, as well as Djokovic’s coaches Marian Vadja and Boris Becker.
“I was focused on her, and her smile and our baby. It really was a perfect moment,” Djokovic told Hello magazine, which bought rights to cover the wedding. “I am marrying the woman I love and there is no better feeling than that. To win Wimbledon and be preparing for fatherhood, I couldn’t ask for more.”
Ristic, who is pregnant with the couple’s first child, expressed an overwhelming sense of emotion when she was walking down the aisle.
“I was very nervous and everything seemed a blur. I was seeing him through tears and started crying when I saw him,” she said. “I was just so happy and probably being pregnant makes it difficult to control the emotions.
Djokovic is expected to resume ATP competition at the Roger’s Cup in Toronto, which takes place between August 4-10.
