World No. 11 Ana Ivanovic has parted ways with her coach Nemanja Kontic following this year’s Wimbledon Championships. Kontic’s contract expired following the grass court Major and the two mutually agreed not to renew the contract after assessing their partnership.
Ivanovic revealed the news in a statement on her official website:
Ana and Nemanja Kontic have ended their coaching partnership by mutual agreement. Kontic’s contract expired after Wimbledon and, after amicable discussions, the pair decided not to renew it. Under Kontic’s guidance Ana won three WTA titles this season. She reached the third round of the French Open and exited Wimbledon at the same stage last week.
Under Kontic, Ivanovic won three WTA titles in 2014, including the first ever grass court title of her professional career ahead of Wimbledon. She is also close to returning to the Top 10 and leads the WTA tour with 39 match wins since the start of 2014. Overall, it has been one of her best seasons to date.
Ivanovic will appoint a new coach in the coming weeks.
