Resurgent Serbian star Ana Ivanovic recently revealed that she has begun a new coaching partnership with Dejan Petrovic, who coached both the Serbian male and female world No. 1’s at some point over the past decade.
Petrovic is best known for his contribution to the Serbian Davis Cup team, as well as coaching current ATP world No.1 Novak Djokovic for a year from 2004, and former world No.1 Jelena Jankovic a year later.
Ivanovic revealed the news on her official website:
Ana is currently working with coach Dejan Petrovic on a trial basis. He will accompany Ana to the North American tournaments this summer. Petrovic, a former player and Davis Cup captain, has in the past worked with current and former Serbian No.1s Novak Djokovic and Jelena Jankovic. Ana’s next tournament is the Bank of the West Classic, which begins in Stanford on Monday 28 July.
It will be interesting to see how Ivanovic does under the tutelage of her new coach. Under Kontic, Ivanovic won three WTA titles in 2014, including the first ever grass court title of her professional career ahead of Wimbledon. She is also close to returning to the Top 10 and leads the WTA tour with 39 match wins since the start of 2014.
Ivanovic will take part in the Bank of the West Classic at Stanford, which begins on July 28.
