Former world No. 1 Victoria Azarenka is set to make her return from a three-month layoff in time for a warm-up event ahead of the Wimbledon Championships.
The Belarusian has been sidelined for several months and missed the entire clay court portion of the season with a foot injury, but it appears she is set to make her return now in time for grass. Tournament officials say the Belarusian accepted a wild card entry Wednesday for the Wimbledon warm-up event.
Azarenka says “I’ve worked hard to rehabilitate my injury and to get fit for my return.” She says Eastbourne will offer the “perfect preparation for Wimbledon,” which starts June 23.
The WTA Eastbourne event takes place June 16-21 at the Devonshire Park Lawn Tennis Club, Eastbourne, United Kingdom
