World No. 10 John Isner and No. 18 Tommy Robredo are scheduled to take part in the Winston-Salem Open, the ATP World Tour 250 tournament which takes place in August.
Isner, a two-time champion at this event, was absent from the draw last year due to injury, but has now chosen to come back and attempt to capture his third title at this event. He has already won a title so far this season in Auckland and will be looking to add to that on American soil.
Robredo, who will play in the Open for the third year in a row, has only won one match at this event, against Guillaume Rufin. He will be looking to improve upon his 1-2 record this year.
“We”re extremely excited that John and Tommy are going to return to the Winston-Salem Open,” Tournament Director Bill Oakes said. “The fact that two top 20 players have committed to play this far in advance shows how well-regarded this tournament is on the ATP Tour. Given his local ties and how much support he has given to the Winston-Salem Open even when he couldn”t play last year, having John return was one of our top priorities. We”re very appreciative that he will again headline our field, and we know that Triad tennis fans will look forward to cheering him on in August.”
Tickets for the Winston-Salem Open, scheduled Aug. 16-23 at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex, will go on sale to the public June 9
