 Agnieszka Radwanska

An intriguing second time encounter is set to take place on Wednesday afternoon between world No. 3 Agnieszka Radwanska and Karolina Pliskova. The last time they crossed paths on the tour was in 2012, at Kuala Lumpur. Check out the Radwanska vs Pliskova Head to Head.

Radwanska began her fortnight stay in Paris with a dominant 6-3, 6-0 win against Shuai Zhang. While there was a slight blunder at the start of the match as the Pole overcame her jitters, she would soon find her form and breeze through the remainder of the encounter. She would even pick up a bagel set in Paris – the first time she has ever done so at this particular Grand Slam event.

“The first set was definitely key,” Radwanska said. “There were so many breaks in a row but then when I held I started to play much better and go more for my shots more.

“For sure, every two set match in a Slam is great so I’m pleased to have my first round match over and done. I love to be back in Paris, even if it’s a bit cold at the moment! Now I’ll wait to see who I have in second round.”

Karolina Pliskova reached the second round in Paris with a 6-1, 7-6 (5) win over France’s Mathilde Johansson. This is her first time past the opening round in Roland Garros.

These two competitors have crossed paths once before on the tour at the 2012 Kuala Lumpur Open, which Aga won comfortably 6-4, 6-4. The two have not played in two years, which adds to the intrigue of this contest but it will ultimately be Radwanska who advances to the third round of the tournament.

Prediction: Agnieszka Radwanska in Straight Sets
