British No. 1 Andy Murray and five other Top 20 stars have been confirmed to play Queen’s Club ahead of the 2014 Wimbledon Championships in late June.
Defending champion Andy Murray could regain his top seed position over the next few weeks with strong clay court performances, but as of right now, the entry list is headed by world No. 6 Tomas Berdych and will include several Top 20 players such as Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Grigor Dimitrov, Kevin Anderson, Ernests Gulbis and last year’s runner-up Marin Cilic.
Murray will be searching for his fourth title at Queen’s Club, as well as a strong performance before he goes on to attempt to defend his Wimbledon title.
Tournament director Ross Hutchins will be making his debut at the event as well.
“The entry list includes current champions such as Andy Murray, established stars like Lleyton Hewitt and exciting young talent in Grigor Dimitrov, Ernests Gulbis and Dominic Thiem, among many others. They will compete for a trophy that has been lifted in the Open era by Rod Laver, John McEnroe, Boris Becker and Pete Sampras. We can’t wait for the tournament to get under way.”
The Aegon Championships begin on June 9 at Queens Club, England.
