The French Davis Cup team is the latest to fall victim to an injury as the top ranked Frenchman, Richard Gasquet, has been forced to withdraw from this weekend’s quarter-final tie against Germany.
It appears Gasquet has been suffering from sciatic nerve pain and will require rest for at least eight days, subsequently eliminating him from the tie this weekend in Nancy.
France Davis Cup captain Arnaud Clement will replace his top star with Edouard Roger-Vasselin and Michael Llodra, who will join Jo Wilfried Tsonga, Gaël Monfils and Julien Benneteau for the tie. While the injury may hamper the team, they are still better off than the German team, which will arrive in France without their top three players: Tommy Haas, Philipp Kohlschreiber and Florian Mayer.
The France-Germany Davis Cup tie takes place between April 4-6 at the indoor courts in Nancy, France.
