British No. 1 Laura Robson has officially withdrawn from the Sony Open in Miami, after it became obvious that she was not prepared to take part in the event. The Briton has been suffering from an ongoing wrist issue that has kept her out of competition since the opening round of the Australian Open.
Robson wrote on her Facebook page: “Rough day, have sadly had to withdraw from Miami due to my ongoing wrist issue.”
The 20-year-old, who added Colombian Mauricio Hadad to her coaching team last week, was expected to be at near-full health in time for the Sony Open but that is clearly not the case. She has been out of competition since a loss to Kirsten Flipkens.
The Sony Open in Miami takes pace between March 17-30.
