Challenger Guangzhou – Blaz Rola wins first career title

Rola showed all his determination to take his first career title on Challenger Tour, the Slovenian had to recover from a set down against 4th seed Yuichi Sugita in Guangzhou’s final. This wasn’t the first game this week that Rola managed to comeback after dropping the first set, the player from Ptuj already did the same against Gerard Granollers in 1st round and Ze Zhang in 2nd round.

Sugita performed at great level all week, not losing a single set until the final, but wasn’t able to close the match in order to collect his third career title.

 

Challenger Salinas – Victor Estrella Burgos keeps impressing

Victor Estrella Burgos seems to be playing his best tennis at the age of 33. The player from Dominican Republic already impressed in Hard Court Challenger tournaments reaching semi-final in Dallas and was last week semi-finalist in Morelos. This week Estrella Burgos returned to clay and kept the high level, the Dominican player claimed the title in Salinas not dropping a single set.

In the final Estrella Burgos defeated Andrea Collarini, the Argentinean was playing his first career final, but some problems in his left elbow prevented him from playing his best tennis.

 

Challenger Cherbourg – Kenny de Schepper claims home glory

Kenny de Schepper claimed first season title in Cherbourg after solid performance. The 2,03m French player had a slow start dropping the opening set against Norbert Gombos, but Schepper never seemed to be in panic and pulled off his best tennis to take the title. Kenny de Schepper fired 60 aces throughout the week to collect 4th career title.

Despite the loss, Gombos made a great way into his first career final, defeating three seeded players: Vincent Millot, Dustin Brown and Ricardas Berankis

 

Next week the Challenger Tour will be played in Kyoto
