Swiss No. 1 Stanislas Wawrinka has officially withdrawn from next week’s Rotterdam tournament citing a leg injury. The Australian Open champion took part in the Davis Cup tie against Serbia last week, where he won the second rubber, which helped the Swiss team earn the victory in two days.
It appears that he is now in need of a break to rest his leg.
“Unfortunately I’m not in the form to compete in Rotterdam,” said Wawrinka. “I hope to be back on court very quickly.”
It was also reported that defending champion Juan Martin del Potro’s participation at the event was also questionable, as he is dealing with a wrist injury. He recently visited the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota to receive treatment on the wrist and is expected to provide an update on his participation within the next few days.
