Venus Williams7 Petra Kvitova vs Venus Williams Preview WTA Qatar (Doha) Open 2R

An interesting second round contest takes place tomorrow afternoon at the Qatar Total Open 2014, as Venus Williams and Petra Kvitova meet for the fourth time on the professional tour. Kvitova leads the head-to-head series 2-1.

World No.6 Petra Kvitova began her season in Sydney, where she lost in the semi-final to eventual champion Tsvetana Pironkova. She followed up with a shocking first-round exit to world No. 88 Luksika Kumkhum at the Australian Open. She was looking to regain her footing in Paris but then began suffering from respiratory issues and was forced to withdraw from the event. She will now look to get back on track this week in Doha, starting with her opening round contest against Venus Williams.

Williams cruised into the second round in Qatar with a victory over Petra Martic in straight sets. While it was a relatively straightforward victory for Venus, the American had a slight hiccup in the opening set, as she dropped serve after leading 4-0. Following that break of serve, Venus remained focused and did not face another break point to easily hold onto her serve for the 6-2, 6-2 victory. Venus, ranked No. 48, has had a turbulent 2014 season so far, as she reached the finals in Auckland but failed to carry forth that momentum to Melbourne, as she would lose in the opening round of the Australian Open.

Kvitova leads the head-to-head series 2-1, including the most recent contest last year in Tokyo. Williams’ sole victory took place the year prior in Miami. The American has had several strong showings this season and is capable of another one tomorrow afternoon considering her opponent has not won a professional contest in over a month.

That is your opinion, however i disagree that Serena is the best player. As for Li Na not beating Serena consistently, i believe it will begin to happen beginning in their next matchup. There are player's past and present that can beat her when completely healthy. Li Na has changed her game, and has an excellent coach who helped Henin win GS's while beating Serena in a few of them. So instead of blindly worshipping your heroine you should waken to reality!

I predict that Miss Kvitova will unleash a devastating beatdown on Williams! And while that will be rather awesome to see....The lady holding the trophy at the end of the tournament is going to be Li Na!!! She is the best player hands down!!

@IsaacWalls  SERENA WILLIAMS IS #1 AND THE BEST TENNIS PLAYER IN THE WORLD. Li is good too but she has not consistently beaten Serena Williams. SO WHAT IF KVITOVA BEATS vENUS every one gets beaten at one time or the other

@IsaacWalls  it is not misguided, it is the fact. I am a fan of tennis and can tell you who has beaten who, and how often check the facts by following the grand slams.
