Former world No. 7 Nicole Vaidisova revealed on Monday that she was considering a return to professional competition after spending nearly four years away from the sport. The Czech retired from tennis competition back ink 2010 at the age of 20.
Vaidisova revealed the news on her new twitter account, saying “Thank you so much for your support. It really means a lot to me. I’m working so hard to try to be back.”
Nicole Vaidisova, who will turn 25 in April, won six tournaments in her career and reached the semi-finals of both the French Open in 2006 and the Australian Open in 2007. She retired in March 2010 after dropping to No. 176 in the WTA rankings, a significant drop from her No. 7 ranking in 2007. She would marry Czech No. 2 Radek Stepanek a few months later.
While it may take Vaidisova a while to regain her competitive nature on court, at the age of 24, she should manage to settle herself back in the tour without too much trouble.
