Following an outstanding weekend of tennis, the 2014 Davis Cup quarter-finals have officially been set. Great Britain won their first World Group tie since 1984, Switzerland defeated 2010 champion Serbia, Japan dominated a depleted Canadian team and France crushed Australia on home soil to make up a variety of the highlights of the opening round of the World Group stage.

In the World Group quarterfinals, Japan will host Czech Republic, France will host Germany, Italy will host Great Britain and Switzerland will host Kazakhstan. Venues are due to be confirmed the middle of February.Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Netherlands, Serbia, Spain and USA will compete in the World Group play-offs on 12-14 September, alongside eight qualifiers from the three Zone Group I competitions.
