World No. 6 Petra Kvitova has revealed that she has accepted a wildcard entry into the Paris Open next week following a disappointing spell in Australian. She joins Maria Sharapova, Sara Errani, Angelique Kerber, Simona Halep and defending champion Mona Barthel at the indoor event.
The Czech No. 1 began her season in the Apia International in Sydney, where she reached the quarter-finals before losing to eventual champion Tsvetana Pironkova. She followed that up with a disappointing first round exit in Melbourne to world No. 88 Luksika Kumkhum.
Kvitova will now look to get back on track in Paris, where she won the title in 2011 before carrying the momentum forth to win the Wimbledon Championship. While she did not defend her title in 2013, Kvitova would return the following year but would lose in the quarter-final to local wildcard entrant Kristina Mladenovic.
The Open GDF Suez takes place between January 25 – February 2 at the Stade Coubertin.
