The ATP World Tour 2014 season officially starts on Monday but six of the top ten players in the world will up their preparation a notch at the Mubadala World Tennis Championships in Abu Dhabi’s Tennis Complex at Zayed Sports City.
The event has always drawn the elite in men’s tennis in each of the five events since it began in 2008. Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic have both won twice while Andy Murray won the inaugural event in 2008. One man who won’t be their though is Roger Federer. He heads the field in Brisbane next week hoping for a good start to 2014 in Australia.
The schedule can be seen below with David Ferrer playing Stanislas Wawrinka and Andy Murray facing Jo Wilfried-Tsonga on Boxing Day. The top two seeds get first round byes for the three day event which concludes on Saturday. Despite only being an exhibition, a cool $250,000 is up for grabs for the winner.
