Laura Robson Laura Robson Withdraws from ASB Classic with Wrist Injury

British Laura Robson has been forced to withdraw from her pre-Australian Open warm-up tournament as she had suffered a wrist injury several weeks back and it has not healed in time for the start of the ASB Classic in Auckland. Robson arrived in New Zealand for the tournament, yet realized that her left wrist had not fully healed and that she would not be 100 percent fit to perform.

“It’s something she’s had for the last couple of weeks. I think she needs a couple of extra days to recover. She said to me that she’s about 95% and just needs a couple of extra days before she can get back out on the court.”¬†said tournament director Karl Budge.

Robson was promptly replaced in the main draw by world no. 179, Tamira Paszek of Austria.

The ASB Classic takes place between December 30-January 4, 2014 in Auckland.
