Not only has former world No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki changed her coach ahead of the 2014 season, she has also signed a contract with Racquet sponsor Babolat, who she had been using since June. The decision to switch to Babolat came after Caroline appeared dissatisfied with her Yonex racquet, which she had been using since 2011. Her contract with Yonex did not allow her to play with other brands for the remainder of the year, so she was forced to spray paint the racquet until the end of the 2013 season.
Now, with the Yonex contract behind her, Wozniacki has chosen to go with a frame with more power and control.
“I’m looking for a little more power, but also a little more control at the same time, such as I might get a little more spin on the ball.” she explained to Ekstra Bladet
Wozniacki has been working hard with a new coach Thomas Högstedt as she hopes to climb back into the world’s top 5. She is currently ranked no. 10 in the world and ended the season by winning her first title that year in Luxembourg. She did so sporting her Babolat racquet and with her new coach alongside her, which may signal a far more successful 2014 season for her.
The Dane is scheduled to take part in the Brisbane International between December 29 – January 5, alongside the likes of Serena Williams, Victoria Azarenka and Maria Sharapova.
