A promising partnership is in the works between rising American talent Sloane Stephens and notable coach Paul Annacone has been revealed by the youngster. It appears the two will work on a trial basis until the completion of the Australian Open.
Annacone recently split with Federer, after a three year stint that saw him lead the Swiss star to his latest Grand Slam title in Wimbledon. There was much speculation as to who Annacone would be lending his services to and this is certainly an interesting transition.
Annacone is best known for his work with Roger Federer and Pete Sampras and will now attempt to leave his mark on his latest athlete in Stephens. Following his stints with Pete Sampras and Roger Federer, this will be the first time he head’s the training of a top female competitor.
The two will work together on a trial basis at least until the end of December, when Sloane will leave to compete in the Hopman Cup and then the Sydney International in the following week. She will then move towards Melbounre, where she will attempt to duplicate her efforts from last year, when she upset Serena Williams to reach the semi-finals.
