An interesting semi-final takes place tomorrow afternoon in the Generali Ladies tournament in Linz, Austria as top seed Angelique Kerber (Bio) attempts to avenge her US Open loss to Carla Suarez Navarro (Bio) on Centre Court. This is their second ever encounter on the professional tour and will likely be an entertaining contest between two determined competitors. Check out the Kerber v Suarez Navarro Head to Head.

World No. 10 Angelique Kerber had been impressive over the past few weeks, having defeated Ivanovic, Radwanska and Wozniacki to reach the Tokyo final before eventually succumbing to Petra Kvitova. Since arriving in Linz, the current top seed has only dropped one set and has breezed through her last two match-ups including a 6-1, 6-0 over World No. 72 Alexandra Cadantu in the second round and followed it up with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Patricia Mayr-Achleitner to reach the semi-finals. She has already surpassed her tournament-best performance back in 2010, when she exited to Andrea Petkovic in the opening round.  With a 42-21 record this season, the German star is hunting for her first WTA title of the season.

Fourth-seeded Carla Suarez Navarro continued her winning streak in Linz with a fantastic upset win over Kirsten Flipkens. The Spaniard lost only four games in her win and is yet to drop a single set heading into her fourth semifinal of the season. If she is able to knock out the top-seeded Kerber, she will likely have a visible path to her first career title. The World No. 18 holds a 44-25 record this season.

The Spaniard holds a victory over Kerber in their only previous encounter on the tour: a third round meeting in Flushing Meadows, which took place earlier this year. Suarez Navarro dropped the opening set but was able to recover to win the second set 6-3 and snatch the match in a decisive third set tiebreak. The World No. 10, who has officially qualified for the Tour Finals in Istanbul, will be after another confidence-building win heading into the year-end championships.
