An entertaining first round contest takes place tomorrow afternoon in Vienna as former World No. 1 Lleyton Hewitt (Player Bio) faces rising Canadian star Vasek Pospisil (Player Bio) for a spot in the second round of the tournament. It is only the second time these two entertaining competitors will meet on the tour, with the Australian breezing through their first encounter just over a year ago. Check out the Hewitt vs Pospisil Head to Head.

Hewitt had an unexpected run in the US Open in August, where he made the second week of the tournament where he beat Juan Martin del Potro and Evgeny Donskoy before losing to Mikhail Youzhny in the fourth round. The 32-year-old followed that up with an impressive showing in the Davis Cup, where he helped Australia reach the World Group with a win over Poland. He even picked up an upset win over World No. 12 Tommy Haas in Beijing several weeks back.

Vasek Pospisil is currently partaking in a fantastic breakthrough season that has seen him reach the semifinals of the Rogers Cup, and rise from No. 128 in January to a career-high of No. 39 after the Rogers Cup. The Canadian No. 2 followed up his successful US Open Series run with an outstanding doubles performance in the Davis Cup semifinals with partner Daniel Nestor. He followed it up last week with a surprisingly quick 6-3, 6-4 win over World No. 10 Richard Gasquet but failed to follow up as he lost to the dazzling Frenchman Gael Monfils in the second round. Had he won, he would have set up a dream encounter with Swiss legend Roger Federer.

The only other time these two met on the ATP tour was on the grass courts in Newport, where Hewitt dominated the encounter 6-1, 6-1. This will likely be a vastly different meeting, as Pospisil has improved tremendously over the past year and is a far better performer on hard courts than on grass courts. He could potentially give the Australian a tough match tomorrow if he is at his best.
