Rafael Nadal overcame world no.1 Novak Djokovic in yet another epic encounter, eventually prevailing 6-4 3-6 7-6 (2) to book a Montreal Masters final.
With this win, the Spaniard improved the H2H record against the Serb to 21-15 and will now face Canadian Milos Raonic for the title.
“To beat Novak on any surface is very important, his level is always high and you have to play well, almost perfect to beat him.” said Rafa after the match.
The other semis also went the distance as Raonic won the battle of the Canadians, defeating Vasek Pospisil 6-4 1-6 7-6 (4).
Nadal leads the head to head against the big serving Raonic with 3-0, with their last encounter taking place in this year’s Barcelona semi-finals.
