British no.1 Andy Murray eased into the last 8 of the AEGON Championships at the Queen’s Club in London after demolishing Australian Marinko Matosevic 6-2 6-2.
However, Murray had to first complete his match against Nicolas Mahut of France this morning. It got postponed from yesterday due to persistent rain and the Scot managed to bag it in straight sets 6-3 7-6 (4).
Andy showed glimpses of his top form and the great news is that the back problems that made him pull out of the French Open don’t seem to bother him anymore. Next up for Murray will be Germany’s Benjamin Becker, who overcame Alexandr Dolgopolov 7-6 (5) 7-5.
Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga needed three sets to book a quarter-final spot. The Roland Garros 2013 semi-finalist defeated Igor Sijsling of Netherlands 7-5 5-7 6-3, setting up a last 8 clash against American Denis Kudla.
