8th seed Caroline Wozniacki fought back from a slow start in the first semi final match at Indian Wells against 4th seed Anglieque Kerber to be the first the qualify for the final. The German led the head to head stat between these two players 3-2, winning all three matches they played in 2012. She made a fine start and took the first set with ease, winning it 6-2, but the feisty Dane came back to take the second set 6-4 to force a decider. The third set was very close and the players got to 5-5 before Wozniacki got the vital break to seal the set at 7-5 and book her place in the final.

13th seed Maria Kirilenko started the second semi final match against 2nd seed Maria Sharapova and both players held their opening games, but Sharapova broke in the 3rd game and she held on to that single break to take the set 6-4, even though most each game was fiercely fought . In the second set games went with serve until the 7th game when Sharapova broke to lead 4-3 and she did not let Kirilenko get another game, taking the set 6-3, earning her a place in the final against Wozniacki.
