Richard Gasquet won his second title of the year after defeating fellow Frenchman Benoit Paire in the Montpellier final, prevailing in straight sets 6-2 6-3.

No.3 seed Gasquet took control of the match from the very beginning, breaking his opponent twice to wrap up the first set.

Paire struggled with Gasquet’s pace and precision, only able to take his serve once in set two. However, after dropping his three more times, Gasquet raced to a superb win in 1 hour and 9 minutes.

This is the 9th ATP title for Gasquet, who fought his way into today’s final with three set victories over Monfils, Benneteau and Nieminen.

“I feel very happy and relieved to win here in Montpellier in front of my friends and family. I realise this is my best season start ever and I just want to keep going and stay healthy. I am leaving tomorrow to Rotterdam.” said Gasquet after the match.
