Benoit Paire became the first finalist of the Montpellier 2013 tournament after prevailing in an all French battle against Michael Llodra. Paire made a superb comeback from a set down to eventually win the match with a 4-6 6-3 6-1 scoreline.
This was the first meeting between the two players and Paire will be aiming to win his first ATP Tour title when he meets Richard Gasquet in the Sunday’s final.
Gasquet overcame Jarkko Nieminen of Finland also in three sets 6-3 3-6 6-2 to give himself a chance to claim the 9th tour title.
The last four matches between the two players have all gone to three sets, with Gasquet winning three of them. After winning the first set, the Frenchman fell 1-5 behind in the second. Despite recovering to 3-5, he was unable to avert Nieminen from forcing a decider. However, Gasquet managed to regroup quickly and after dropping only two games in set three, he set up a final clash against Paire.
