Andy Murray secured his semi-final spot at the Brisbane International 2013 tournament with a 6-4 7-6 (3) victory over Denis Istomin of Uzbekistan.
The Australian crowd was witness to a fairly high quality match, with serve dominating the encounter. However, the British US Open 2012 champion managed to take his opponent´s serve once to wrap up the first set.
As both players held their serves in set two, a tiebreak was inevitable. Murray once again stepped up a gear and after one hour and 37 minutes, he set up a Nishikori semi-final clash.
Kei Nishikori of Japan ousted last year´s finalist Alexandr Dolgopolov of Ukraine also in straight sets 6-4 7-6 (3) in one hour and 27 minutes.
This was Nishikori´s second win over Dolgopolov in as many matches and he will be aiming to win the 3rd tour title of his career.
