Andy Murray made his way into the second round of the 2013 Australian Open as he overcame Robin Haase of Netherlands in three easy sets 6-3 6-1 6-3.

After taking a quick 5-1 lead in the first set, the 2012 US Open champion Murray lost his focus for a bit just before eventually wrapping it up 6-3.

One more break for Murray in the fourth game of the second set seemed to have broken Haase’s resistance. Nothing could stop the no.3 seed from booking a second round clash against Joao Sousa of Portugal.

The Brit, coached by Ivan Lendl, reached the semi-final here last year, losing to Djokovic in an epic five setter, but if everything goes to plan, he could be facing Federer in the semis this year.

Also through to the next round is 7th seeded Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, who overcame fellow Frenchman Michael Llodra 6-4 7-5 6-2.

Tsonga, who reached the final here in 2008, hit 38 winners vs 18 unforced errors on his way to victory.

With this win, Tsonga improved his immaculate head to head against Llodra to 6-0, setting up a next round encounter against Japanese Go Soeda.
