Top seed David Ferrer of Spain booked his place in the Qatar Open 2013 semi-finals after dispatching Italian Paolo Lorenzi in straight sets 6-3 6-0.

This was the first meeting between the two players and the Spaniard´s solid ground strokes proved to be too much for Lorenzi, who went down in just one hour and 2 minutes.

In another quarter-final encounter, veteran Nikolay Davydenko rolled back the years as he outclassed another Italian player Simone Bolelli in two easy sets 6-1 6-1.

The Russian broke his opponent five times alltogether to set up a semi-final clash against Ferrer.
