No.4 seed Spaniard David Ferrer came back from two sets down to defeat countryman Nicolas Almagro, winning 4-6 4-6 7-5 7-6 (4) 6-2 and advancing to the Australian Open 2013 semi-final.

Almagro was literally one tiny step away from upsetting Ferrer, but he failed to serve out the match when 5-4 up in the third set. He had the opportunity to close out today’s quarter-final twice more in set four, but wasn’t able to do so, letting Ferrer back into the match. After losing the fourth set, Almagro seemed to be suffering from serious cramps, with Ferrer taking his chances and sailing to victory after 3 hours and 44 minutes.

Next, Ferrer will play the winner of the match between Djokovic and Berdych.
