No.4 seed Alexandr Dolgopolov of Ukraine made his way into the Brisbane 2013 quarter-finals as his opponent Jarkko Nieminen of Finland was forced to retire due to migraine when trailing 6-2 4-1.

After Dolgopolov racing to take the first set, Nieminen looked weak and his movement deteriorated quite a bit. It wasn´t long before the Finn decided to call it a day, which means that Dolgopolov´s next opponent in the last 8 will be Japan´s Kei Nishikori.

Nishikori, who is the 5th seed of this year´s tournament, eliminated Spaniard Tommy Robredo in straight sets 6-3 6-3.
