Defending champion Novak Djokovic and Stanislas Wawrinka put on a spectacular show in front of the packed Rod Laver Arena, battling for an unbelievable 5 hours and 2 minutes.

Djokovic eventually managed to overcome the Swiss in five tough sets, winning 1-6 7-5 6-4 6-7 (5) 12-10 to book a quarter-final clash against the Czech Berdych, who eliminated Kevin Anderson in straight sets 6-3 6-2 7-6 (13).
