Top seed Tomas Berdych of Czech Republic suffered a suprising defeat in the Chennai Open quarter-final. His conqueror was Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut, who prevailed in three sets 7-5 2-6 6-3.

Agut, who posted his biggest win on the tour with this win, didn’t show any signs of nervousness as he rallied to take the match in 2 hours and 17 minutes.

Today was full of surprises as other two seeds Cilic and Wawrinka also got eliminated.

The only seeded player in tomorrow’s semis will be Serb Janko Tipsarevic, who beat Japan’s Go Soeda in straight sets  6-2 6-4.

No.2 seed Tipsarevic will be trying to at least repeat last year’s performance, when he lost against Raonic in the final.
