Jo-Wilfried Tsonga easily defeated home favourite Thomaz Bellucci on the second day of the Gillette Tennis Tour from Sao Paolo. Bellucci could not repeat his form from the win over Roger Federer on day 1  as his French opponent sailed to a 6-2 6-2 victory. Early breaks in both sets would be enough for Tsonga who faces Federer on Day 3.

Prior to the match, Maria Sharapova and Caroline Wozniacki took part in a fun encounter in which Sharapova was victorious in two sets 6-2 7-6. It wasn’t quite played with the intensity of their encounter early in the year as both players interacted with the crowd and showed off a less serious side, including the pair dancing at the end of the first set while later Wozniacki mocked her fellow competitor in Brazil, Serena Williams.

With regards to the actual match, Wozniacki found it hard to recover after falling down 0-4 in the first, eventually losing the set 6-2. Sharapova would be broken serving for the match but eventually came out on top in the tie break 7-5.
