Argentine Juan Martin del Potro defeated Roger Federer in front of the home crowd in Buenos Aires in the first out of two exhibition matches, prevailing 3-6 6-3 6-4.
Despite Federer leading the head to head against Del Potro with 13-4, the Argentine has managed to win their last two matches (in the Basel final and at the ATP World Tour Finals).
However, Del Potro has showed some superb tennis throughout the last few months and many experts believe that he is very close to his best form from 2009 when he won the US Open title, beating Federer in the final.
The second match between these two players is planned for today.
