With 5 years of postponed Men’s Finals due to Rain at the US Open the USTA announced that the 2013 Men’s Final will take place on Monday with a decision about 2014 to come after the 2013 tournament.

“The US Open tennis tournament is moving the Women’s Final to Sunday and Men’s Final to Monday in 2013, building in a day of rest ahead of each title match for the first time” according to USTA spokesman Chris Widmaier.

The change ends the custom of ‘Super Saturday’ when both Men’s Semifinals and the Women’s Final were played on the same day.
There will be no Saturday night session in 2013.

The USTA also revealed that total prize money in 2013 will go to $29.5 million, an increase of $4 millon from 2012 and the largest increase in tournament history.
