Juan Martin Del Potro took the 12th title of his career, and third on the year (Marseille, Estoril), in Vienna as he defeated Grega Zemlja 7-5 6-3 in 1 hour and 41 minutes. While the victory was never in true danger for Del Potro, his Slovenia opponent did give him early trouble.
Zemlja took on the seemingly impenetrable serve of Del Potro and for the first three service games found some success. The opening game of the match saw the Argentinian save one break point, but it would be the third where Zemlja finally broke through. From 30-0 down, Zemlja broke the serve of Del Potro to take a 3-2 lead and then confirmed the break. Unfortunately for Zemlja, he buckled on the next service game getting quickly broken to 15 to tie it up at four games apiece. He would have three chances to get the opportunity to serve for the set at 4-4 but would be punished for his wastefulness later in game 12, getting broken as he attempted to force a tie break.
The second set was fairly straight forward for Del Potro, especially after taking the first three games for the loss of just two points. He settled for just the one break as the pair traded holds until the end, and would serve out to 15 for his second indoor title of the year.
